Founder's Note
./why-build-this.shSome humans can breeze through bureaucracies, some can hack online systems to get discounts on products and services, some just know how to find free parking spots in downtown Toronto or New York, some know low-key hotspots you must visit on your trip to Japan, while the rest of us go the more conventional routes trudging away through life. Well, no more! Monetize your knowledge and experience, and share with the world!
The same thesis applies to the Startup life. Founding a startup should be much easier. Cohorts and incubators have turned into an industry in themselves, often overcomplicating the process, arguably even doing more harm than good to founders. Market metrics, too, are frequently overblown. The problem of “Is a startup idea worth pursuing?” can be boiled down to looking at simple metrics - three of which are crucial to make the case - novelty, expected gross profit, and expected year-on-year increase in gross profit. That's that.
Creating value through startups, as we transition into a post-AGI world, will get increasingly harder. Competing products can be designed overnight and the marketplace will only get exponentially more cut-throat. This is when steering your ship with a “Guild Navigator” will become super useful - an experienced human who knows the market for a potential product well, but is risk averse since they are already doing well in life.
